Game Thesaurus
The game thesaurus consists of an “encyclopedia” of video game texts and dialogues and it is browsable
both as a website, as a retro video game, and as a printed version: each user can create a collection
of their own favorite texts and print a brochure or a book to serve as a compendium of the project.
We believe that extrapolating the text from a video game can be a valuable opportunity to deal with
the topic of games as literature — a medium which, of course, reflects a part of society as it is when
the game is published. Video games, by their very nature, are meant to be watched and played, as well
as read; isolating a text from its context is a way to investigate the difference between the unabridged
transcript of a video game, a novel, and a film script.
